About This Project

At Double Barrel Studios, we work for our clients, and we also do our own original productions. Crush on Niagara is one of our passion projects.

We are proud to present the first episode of our original series, Crush on Niagara. In partnership with Andrew Brooks (the owner of Crush on Niagara Wine Tours, from which our series gets its name), our goal is to explore the wine regions of Ontario. This will be an ongoing series, and we are proud to have our first batch “in the can”.

Our first episode takes our viewers to Featherstone Winery, located on 23 acres of rolling hills on the prestigious upper Twenty Mile Bench along the Niagara Escarpment in Ontario, Canada. Vintners, proprietors and farmers Louise Engel and David Johnson invited us to spend a whole day with them to capture the flavour of a day in the life of an estate winery at harvest time.

Andrew (our host), Dave and Louise take us on a tour the farm – the fields, the crushing room, the cellars where the wine is fermented. And they introduce us to some unusual members of the Featherstone crew .. a sweet little flock of lambs, and Featherstone’s resident falcon, Amadeus.

After the farm tour, we go to the kitchen, where we are joined by Chef Ryan Crawford. You’ll be hungry after watching this segment. Chef Crawford prepares a leg of lamb in Louise and Dave’s kitchen, and then moves outside to grill it over an open fire fuelled by a bale of dried grapevines.

We’re very proud of this project and look forward to this summer and fall when we’ll highlight more wineries on the beautiful Niagara Peninsula and the other three wine regions of Ontario.
